Latest Executive Orders Promise Regulatory Reform and Relief
President Trump this week signed several executive orders aimed at regulatory relief at both the federal and state levels. The executive orders are a welcome development as Â鶹TV has been working closely with the administration to reform the federal rulemaking process and eliminate excessive regulations.
Of note to the housing industry, the EOs include:
- Removing , with a focus on climate change policies; policies involving environmental, social, and governance initiatives, carbon or greenhouse gas emissions; and funds to collect carbon penalties or carbon taxes.
- Rescinding unlawful regulations based on the outcomes of , such as:
- Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo, which overturned the Chevron doctrine
- Sackett v. EPA, which established the test for determining whether a waterbody or wetland falls under the scope of the Clean Water Act
- Establishing a “Conditional Sunset Date” for certain regulations to ensure agencies re-examine their regulations periodically to ensure that those rules serve the public good.
